Extension of Struers headquarters

Extension of Struers headquarters

Mikkelsen Architects is designing the extension of Struers Headquarters, which the firm designed in 2001.

The original idea of Struers Headquarters as a large unifying hall for all of Struers' diverse activities, where interaction, synergy and knowledge sharing are in focus, is continued.

The existing administration deck on the south façade is extended and pushed into the double-height production area.

New window holes cut into the facade complemented by new skylights ensure good daylight conditions in the area.

The extension includes open office space at the facade and towards the production common meeting rooms, printer rooms, technical cores and kitchenettes.

As in the example building, the administration area and production/warehouse are separated by glass walls, so that transparency, materials and colours appear uniform.

The original concept of the building with the contrast between the raw concrete and the refined detail is continued. For example, in the design language of the glass screens and glass walls in contrast to the heaviness of the concrete walls.
