MIKKELSEN ARKITEKTER has provided architectural advice in the following phases: planning, authority project, project proposal, main project, project follow-up and user process.
The office building is based on the desire to create a dynamic and well-functioning workplace that is clear and understandable in its structure. The building is organised around an open atrium that creates interaction and visual contact between the departments.
The requirement to create optimal workplaces with open office areas, to make the public functions clear and to define a very special identity for Udbetaling Danmark in Vordingborg, has been essential for the design of the building.
The building contains a reception, meeting centre and quiet rooms in connection with the open office areas. There are a few closed accounts in the areas. In particular, the management of acoustics in the open office landscape has been a focus of the office building.
The building volume itself creates foreground views via inward corners. The facades achieve their own scale with the characteristic outward-pointing modules. The bay window elements protect and ensure the operation of the solar shading slats, which are positioned between an inner and an outer pane. At the same time, the inner surfaces of the domes act as daylight reflectors, bringing skylight into the building and contributing to an even distribution of daylight on the floors and a pleasant indoor climate.
On the outside, the domes have a gold-bronze anodised finish, which interacts with the grey/yellow brick façade to add to the sculptural look of the façade.
Vordingborg Municipality has awarded the Building Prize 2013 to the Udbetaling Danmark building:
"The jury finds that MIKKELSEN ARKITEKTER's proposal best meets ATP's vision of good workplaces with clear and transparent structures in a modern office environment, and at the same time manages in the architectural concept and building scale - very talentedly - to create the identity that ATP demands in a finely detailed building."
