Transformation and extension at the corner of Valkendorfsgade and Købmagergade in central Copenhagen

Mikkelsen Architects has won the competition for the extension and conversion of the historic building at the corner of Valkendorfsgade and Købmagergade.
The existing property will be renovated and partially transformed both inside and out and converted into apartments with an extension in the existing courtyard facing Valkendorfsgade.

The façade appears open with larger windows and French balconies, with interior guards that will add a varied play of light and shade, textural contrasts and characterful details to the existing streetscape throughout the day.
