Dansehallerne opens its doors

We are excited to see the doors open to the public on our recently completed project for Dansehallerne in Kedelhuset in Carlsberg Byen. Dansehallerne's new building is buzzing with dance and choreography, and we are so happy and excited to share it with you.

Dansehallerne has returned to Carlsberg Byen and the old industrial building Kedelhuset is filled with life, music and movement. The 4,500 m² building has been renovated with respect for both its history and industrial character.

New life in the service of dance

Kedelhuset, formerly part of the Carlsberg Breweries, is now a national and international hub for dance and choreography. The aim is to create a place where professional dancers can train, develop and perform, while audiences, amateurs, children, young people and associations can meet and be inspired by the professional dance environment.

The original facade of Kedelhuset has been preserved, while the mighty, raw hall at the core of the building has been rebuilt with respect for its listed architectural qualities. The listed building has thus been given new life and function in the service of dance, while preserving its unique atmosphere and soul. The building now houses a large stage, a blackbox stage, as well as audience areas, offices and a number of dance studios.

The transformation of Kedelhuset was carried out by Mikkelsen Arkitekter and VITA Ingeniører, in collaboration with the City of Copenhagen, Bygningsfonden Kedelhuset, Udviklingsselskabet Carlsberg Byen P/S, Augustinus Fonden, A.P. Møller Fonden, Aage og Johanne Luis-Hansens Fond, Lokale og Anlægsfonden and Realdania.
