WINNER! ArchDaily Building of the Year!

Winner in the Healthcare Architecture category as Building of the Year 2024!

The readers of ArchDaily decided not only to nominate SDCC as one of the final 75 out of 4,000 nominees, but also to declare it the winner in the Healthcare Architecture category as the 2024 Building of the Year!

Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) is Northern Europe's largest center for the prevention and treatment of diabetes. The center is located at Herlev Hospital and specializes in outpatient treatment, research and prevention of diabetes and education of healthcare professionals. SDCC is a warm and welcoming building with a strong connection to outdoor areas, giving patients and users a 'homey' and safe environment, with materials based on a Nordic material expression that stimulates the senses and expresses quality. All communal and waiting areas have been reimagined so that the architecture itself promotes a healthy lifestyle, turning waiting time into active time around themes of diet, exercise and education.

The ArchDaily Building of the Year Awards started 15 years ago and is now considered one of the world's most prestigious architecture awards. ArchDaily is, with 160 million readers annually, the world's largest architectural media and it is the readers who have voted for 4,000 nominees for 15 categories - and here SDCC is the winner as only one of two Danish projects. The other winner is Operaparken.
