Mikkelsen Architects prequalified for new sports hall in the Czech Republic.

Mikkelsen Architects has been pre-qualified to submit a tender for the construction of a new sports hall by the Vltava River in the Czech town of České Budějovice. The project proposal will be developed in collaboration with local architects Projektil Architekti and Rehwaldt Landscape Architects.

The new multi-purpose hall will house modern and versatile facilities with courts for volleyball, basketball, handball, gymnastics and martial arts. In addition, the hall must be able to host major cultural and congress events, making flexibility a key element in the answer.

The project also includes the creation of a forecourt that will act as a focal point for all activities and tie the area together. The construction of the multi-purpose hall and the transformation of the surrounding area marks the beginning of a long-term development of this part of the city. Synergy and coherence with the surroundings and the rest of the city is an essential part of the solution.

The new ball sports center will have regional significance and will be an important gathering place for both national and international sporting events.
