Mikkelsen Architects prequalified for New Sports Hall in Solrød
Mikkelsen Architects, together with general contractor EMCH and ISC Consulting Engineers, have been prequalified to bid for the construction of a new sports hall in addition to the existing Solrød Sports Centre.
The new multi-purpose hall will have different types of courts and will be used for badminton, basketball, volleyball, ball games and gymnastics, for example, and flexibility is an important design point for the hall. The building is an extension, so synergy and coherence with the existing sports halls is an essential part of the task.
In construction, the client has a strong focus on sustainability in design and execution, and expects the client's consultant to use Life Cycle Costs, an aspect of sustainable construction. The life cycle costing is very important and should be used in conjunction with other sustainability analysis aspects, such as how climate friendly the building is; how durable the building can be expected to be, based on high quality materials; how resource efficient the building is; and how energy efficient the building is. In addition, other analyses and assessments such as social qualities can also contribute to sustainable construction.
Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2023.
