Steno Diabetes Center Sjælland is under construction

Mikkelsen Architects is in full swing with the transformation of the Akaciegården in Holbæk, which will house Steno Diabetes Center Sjælland in 2023.

Craftsmen are working on the beautiful exterior walls, where the old portico will be exposed and act as a fluid transition between the original building and a new extension.

Putting people first
Diabetes is a disease that cannot be cured with a simple cure. For the vast majority, it requires a radical lifestyle change. The new SDCS Holbæk, will be a place that invites and motivates diabetics to a changed lifestyle - creating co-ownership of their own lifestyle change.

Mikkelsen Arkitekter is carrying out a thorough transformation, remodelling and renovation, which with new measures opens up possibilities for spaces that meet and cater to the different needs and wishes of users.

With this transformation, Mikkelsen Arkitekter will create environments and spaces that contribute to positioning patient-centred treatment and research.

A transformation of the existing building that interacts with the outdoor spaces and, through its scale, materiality and atmosphere, puts people at the centre.
